If leaders are unlikely to drop from the sky, fully equipped with all the skills and character attributes necessary for the task of leadership, what kinds of things shape them to make them the leaders they eventually become? What does a leadership journey look like?

These are the kinds of questions I have been working on over the past few years, first in the context of doctoral research and more recently via ‘The Leadership Journey Podcast’, a series of conversations with leaders. The ‘blog and podcast’ page will connect you with the podcast and you can also subscribe on Apple or Spotify.

There is also a book: ‘The Crucible of Leadership: Learning from the Story of Moses’ was published by Instant Apostle in June 2022. You can read what people have said about the book by way of endorsements and you can download a sample chapter.

I am a Bible College lecturer, based in Northern Ireland and teaching in colleges on both sides of the border. Previously I spent some twenty years as a pastor (most of that time in Switzerland). I am married to Pauline, a counsellor and retreat leader, and we have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren.
